US Quadball Cup 2025 Updates
With US Quadball Cup 2025 coming up on April 26-27, USQ has some updates regarding nationals divisions and formats.
Club Competitive Division
Club competitive division remains largely unchanged from the plan at the start of the season – 16 teams competing for the club national championship with the 3 max gameplay policy in effect. Congratulations to the 8 teams that received bids at national qualifiers:
The Warriors^
Connecticut Quadball
Boom Train^
Bosnyan Bearsharks^
Bay Area Breakers^
Texas Hill Country Heat
Twin Cities Quadball Club
The Lost Boys Quadball Club

At large bid offers are going out to the next 8 teams in standings who have fulfilled their season play requirements or received a waiver and have not opted out of club competitive division.
College Division 1
Due to lower interest in this division than we hoped for at the start of the season, there will be minor changes to College D1. We will be reducing it to up to 12 teams instead of the original 16 teams planned, but we will be sticking with the implementation of 3 max for this year’s nationals as planned. Because of difficulties in determining which teams are capable of playing 3 max, we will be allowing teams to decline college D1 bids and instead opt to participate in college D2.
College Division 2
With the increased interest in college D2 and to accommodate the few teams dropping down to D2, we will be expanding the division from 16 to 20 teams. In order to maintain competitive balance of games on nationals day 1, we plan to run a swiss-style tournament where teams are matched together based on win/loss record that day instead of typical pool play games*.
* Swiss-style tournaments require specific numbers of teams. If we have teams drop out of the tournament without time to fill in another team and we are unable to make swiss work, we may switch to a more typical pool play format for nationals day 1.
Open Division
As planned, we will be hosting 2 uncapped open division tournaments at US Quadball Cup 2025: college and club. If your team plans to participate in open division and has opinions on what format you would like or what else you would like to get out of the event, please email gameplay@usquadball.org with thoughts. We appreciate your help in creating an event that provides the best possible experience for all teams and believe open division teams are a key part of our community.
