What is USNTDA?

Created in April 2019, the United States National Team Developmental Academy fosters future USNT talent. The team is regulated by US Quadball. Though ineligible to compete in official International Quadball Association events, the USNTDA does participate in USNT training camps and competes against international teams in friendlies.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Athletes selected for the USNTDA must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age at time of selection

  • A registered member of a USQ college team in the season prior

    • Exceptions may be made for athletes 21 or younger that do not have access to a collegiate team

  • At least one of the following:

    • Be a US citizen;

    • Have lived in the US for at least three years;

    • Have played quidditch only in the prior year

At the discretion of the coaching staff, an exception may be made for an athlete on the USNTDA that no longer meets the above requirements to remain part of the USNTDA.

In order to apply, you must be willing to agree to the necessary waivers and provide written commitment to various requirements:

  • USNT Practice Policy

    • In the event that I am chosen for and accept a roster spot on the USNTDA, I agree to make an active effort to attend as many USNTDA practices as my financial state and distance from said practices allow. I will also make a concerted effort to be at all USNTDA tournaments at least one week in advance to participate in on-site training.

All USNTDA applicants are also required to submit two unedited recordings of official USQ or MLQ games in which they have played. Fantasy games, merc games or games against official teams deemed unofficial will not be accepted. The footage must meet the below requirements:

  • Footage will only be considered valid if the game took place during the prior USQ season, prior MLQ season and/or the current USQ season.

  • All videos must be sent as either a YouTube, Google Drive or Dropbox link via the body of an email to the USNT Head Coach Parada with the subject line “LASTNAME_USNTDA Video Submission.”

    • The body of the email must also include the athlete’s name, position(s), gender, their USQ seasonal team, their MLQ team (if applicable) and the address of assumed residency for the upcoming summer.

    • In the body of the email, athletes are required to provide timestamps of when they were on pitch and a description of the play that takes place during each timestamp.

Any athlete that meets the requirements is eligible to try out for the USNTDA at a training camp and/or be scouted by the USNTDA. More info on USNT training camps can be found here. If you are unable to attend a training camp, you can express interest by email to Interim USNTDA Head Coach Amanda Dallas and USNT Manager Hanna Reese at amanda.dallas@usquadball.org and hanna.reese@usquadball.org, respectively.
