The US National Team program is excited to announce that both the USNT and USNT Developmental Academy will be playing all games moving forward with a maximum of three players of a single gender on pitch during the seeker floor, and a maximum of four players of a single gender on pitch with seekers on the field. This will go into effect immediately.
The leadership of the USNT program has been watching the growing fervor both internationally and domestically for a more inclusive quadball product on pitch for women and gender non-conforming athletes, and decided that as the premier quadball team in the U.S., it was our job to be the first to formally present that future in our country.
“The U.S. has some of the most talented women and gender non-conforming athletes in the sport, and we look forward to the opportunities this policy adjustment will unlock for our program and to developing and nurturing those that seize them,” said USNT Head Coach Michael Parada.
We are thrilled to join national team programs including the likes of Austria, Australia, and Canada, who committed to doing so for the entirety of the 2023 IQA World Cup. We also stand with other national teams in calling for the IQA to ratify this new rule in its 2024 rulebook. While we acknowledge we are a cycle behind some of these programs in making the shift, we hope that the weight of the USNT program can still help to further push the international game to a new standard of practice.
The USNT will make use of training camps and roster additions to better prepare the standing team to thrive under this ruleset, with the goal, as always, to continue to stay golden. Please look out for more information on camps in the months to come. We thank you for your continued support for this program.
