New USQ Season Structure and Event Bidding for the 2024-25 Season

US Quadball (USQ) will be launching a new season structure, starting in the 2024-25 season. Currently, the entirety of the USQ calendar is focused on a single, eight month-long, competitive season. All USQ-run events exist in service to this season, with regionals starting as early as seven weeks into the season and going all the way up until a month before US Quadball Cup.

New USQ Season Structure

The new season structure will consist of the following:

Pre-Season (September - Mid-January)

  • National Qualifiers (formerly known as regional championships) will no longer take place during the pre-season.

    • This mainly impacts those in the Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Northeast regions, who historically have had these events in the fall.

  • College and club teams will still be able to play official games that count towards USQ standings, but those official games will be hosted either by conferences or certified TDs - not hosted by USQ.

    • This gives opportunity for the expansion and empowerment of the conference system in all regions now, with the goal of getting official college teams into conferences to foster growth and consistent play.

    • The league will continue to foster TD certification in areas around the country where conferences may not be present or for teams in the club division - to help ensure official tournaments are hosted for those teams.

  • USQ’s event focus will be on a new series of one day events called “Quadballfest”. These will include fantasy tournaments, workshops, certification opportunities, social events, and more. This will give all members, and potential new members, the chance to partake in learning opportunities, sharpen up their skills, and to connect with individuals in the quadball community in a fun environment.

Competitive Season (Mid-January - April)

  • National Qualifiers will be presented by USQ from the end of January to early March for the club and college divisions. Priority will be placed on providing indoor space for areas with historical temperatures of 45 degrees or lower during the month they would be hosting a National Qualifier.

  • US Quadball Cup will remain the end of season event, taking place in April.

  • College and club teams will still be able to play official games not hosted by USQ that count towards USQ standings during this time.

Restructuring the USQ season will allow for more opportunities for individual and team development across all regions, as well as new growth opportunities for the league and sport overall. Any questions can be directed to membership@usquadball.org
